An Honors Organization That Recognizes And Elevates High Achievers

The Society of Torch & Laurel


The Society of Torch & Laurel is an honors program developed by The National Society of Collegiate Scholars to recognize high school high achievers and provide them and their families with the vital tools to successfully transition to college.

High school students are eligible when they meet one of the following criteria:

A minimum GPA of 3.5 OR
An SAT score of 1300 OR
An ACT score of 27

Participation in The Society of Torch & Laurel is free-- the program does not have any fees/dues.


Torch & Laurel gives out $100,000 in scholarships annually, including Merit Award scholarships, Study Abroad scholarships, graduate-study scholarships, several program-specific scholarships and much more.


Torch & Laurel members are viewed as leaders in their education community. Members are also given access to career resources, leadership development, and much more.


Torch & Laurel is a nationwide community of scholars (members), partners, high-achieving college students, and more.


In scholarships annually.


Scholars in all 50 states.


Scholars can be matched with high-achieving college students.

Partner of the Week
The National Academies

The Society of Torch & Laurel is proud to partner with The National Academies, which is consists of The National Academy of Future Scientists & Technologists, and The National Academy of Future Physicians & Medical Scientists. Every summer The National Academies hosts two congresses, at the University of Massachusetts, in Lowell, MA, to gather the nation’s best and brightest leaders in the scientific, medical and technological fields for three days to connect with and inspire students from across the country.  The Congress of Future Medical Leaders and The Congress of Future Scientists and Technologists, are a great opportunity for future scientists and medical leaders to network with industry leaders and innovators, as well as other like-minded students.

Attendance at the Congresses is highly competitive.  For more information please  contact:

Through our partnership with the National Academies, any high school student who attends either congress is automatically inducted as a Torch & Laurel scholar.

How To Join The Society of Torch & Laurel
Step 1

Be a high school students that meets one of the following criteria:

  1. A minimum GPA of 3.5 OR
  2. An SAT score of 1900 OR
  3. An ACT score of 27

Step 2

An invitation will be extended via email.

Step 3

Students who meet any of the above criteria but did not receive an invitation, may self-nominate.
